Drivers for Compaq Presario C772TU xp Driver

Officially there are only VISTA drivers for this model. So in order to succesfully install the drivers for Windows XP - Please Install them according to order.

Note that for AUDIO, MODEM and WIRELESS you need to perform manual installation. Don't worry I'll guide you through the installation process.

INSTALL ACCORDING TO ORDER.

1. GRAPHIC DRIVER:

10. AUDIO
To install AUDIO AND MODEM, we must do it manually. Direct installation will not work.

a) PATCH FOR AUDIO
(UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio (sp32646): (choose one only)

I recommend to restart after installation finish. I installed  drivers in this model maybe hundreds times (c700 series) , some of them i install without restart but... restart is the best decision XD.

b) After restart install Audio driver:

AUDIO
Conexant High-Definition Audio Driver
Download  (SP35682)

Installing this driver will result in an error. The reason we run the installation is to extract the driver files. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" mark with yellow ! and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse, and go to C:\SWSetup\SP35682 and select wis30B2a.inf
8. Ignore any errors you receive and proceed with the installation.

11. MODEM
Conexant modem driver (sp36089)
Download

Install it first, ignore if error.

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Modem device" mark with yellow ! and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse, and go to C:\SWSetup\SP36089 and select the .inf file.

8. Ignore any errors you receive and proceed with the installation.

12. WIRELESS/WIFI
There are 3 possible driver for wifi, choose base on you specs, if you didn't know test which work for you.

Intel Pro Wireless Driver:

IF you use atheros you need to manually install the driver. Extract the driver first .

1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Network Controller" mark with yellow ! and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse, and go to the driver folder we extracted earlier and select the .inf file.

SM Bus Controller:
Download

Install the driver and it will create "C:\swsetup\sp32555", ignore the error.
12. Select the "C:\swsetup\sp32555\XP\ich5core" file and Click "Open"
13. Click "OK"
14. Click "Next"
15. Select "Intel(R) 6300ESB SMBus Controller - 25A4"
16. Finish

7. Open the folder "Ethernet" and choose the .inf file listed.
8. Ignore any errorrs you receive and proceed with the installation.

Compaq Presario C795TU xp driver

This model of Presario has an audio controller that supports the high definition audio. You need to have Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for high Definition Audio installed on the computer before installing the audio driver. Installtion guide:
1. Unzip to a folder..make note of location.
2. From Device Manager,right click "Audio Device on HD", choose Update driver > No to connect > 3. Install from a list or specific location > Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install > For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
4. Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk" > Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf" > Ignore XP when it complains

Now reboot the system.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.

Compaq Presario C785TU xp driver

Your Presario is shipped with the High definition Audio controller, so you have to first install the Microsoft UAA driver and then install the Audio driver.

Installation Instructions
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.
2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. A diskette containing the driver is created, and the driver files are also made available at c:\swsetup\sp36132. If you choose to cancel diskette creation, you will need to copy the driver files to the chosen media.

To use the diskette during a new operating system installation, complete the following steps (choose the procedure that matches the operating system you are running).

For Microsoft Windows XP:
NOTE: A USB diskette (floppy) drive is required to use this driver. If an external USB diskette drive is used, ensure that it is plugged into the system before starting Step 1.

1. Insert the operating system CD, and Power On the notebook to boot from the CD.
2. At the very beginning of the operating system installation, the following prompt is displayed at the bottom of the screen: "Press F6 if you need to install a SCSI or RAID driver...."When the prompt is displayed, press F6.
3. Later in the operating system installation, you are notified that a mass storage device could not be detected. When this notification occurs, press S (S=Specify Additional Device).
4. When prompted, insert the diskette that was created from the SoftPaq file, and then press Enter.
5. Select "Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)" and press Enter.
NOTE: At this point, the following prompt MAY be displayed, depending on the version of your operating system CD. If the prompt is displayed, press Enter to use the default Windows driver and continue, if it is not displayed, continue with next step 6. The prompt reads as follows: Windows already has a driver that you can use for "Intel 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)". Unless the device manufacturer prefers that you use the driver on the floppy disk, you should use the driver in Windows. S=use the driver on floppy ENTER=use the default Windows driver
6. Continue with the operating system installation, as prompted.
NOTE: If a problem is encountered when using the external USB floppy drive,
refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 916196: "A connected USB floppy
disk drive does not work when you press F6 to install mass storage drivers
during the Windows XP installation process."
