Thi s is my initial suggestion for this model, if you have problems leave your comments. The drivers selected base on the laptop specifications.

Why there are no official driver release for windows 7 for this model?
It is become the HP/Compaq way to tell user what OS you should use with the model you have, so if there are only driver officially for Xp release mean your laptop only can be use with windows XP. However they not directly prohibit you to use other OS, but you will need to contatct them for technical issues such as compatible driver and other setting.

Instruction:
1.  after finish download, right click and select extract (u must have  winrar software) or just double click, it will extract the files. If  installation error appear, ignore it.
if you extarct using winrar, right click and select extarct files, then click ok, it will create a SP34386 folder.
if you double click the driver folder will located at c:\swsetup\sp34386.
2. open device manager (click start on the search box type DEVMGMT.MSC and press enter)
3. right click on audio with yellow mark, select update driver,
4. selecf browse my computer for device driver software.
5. select let me pick from a list of devices driver in my computer.
6.  next, select have disk, browse to the driver we extract earlier. select  the inf files and continue with on screen instruction.

ATI Radeon IGP 340M Windows 7 Driver

2. Open device manager by click start and or the search box type DEVMGMT.MSC and press ENTER.

3. A device manager willl open.
4. Look at the Display Adapter, (expand it) you will see standard VGA listed.
5. Right click on it select update Driver.
6. Select 2nd option "Browse my computer for device driver"

7. Click browse button and browse to the driver folder we extracted earlier (tick the box include sub-folder)

8. Press Next and continue with on screen instruction.

For windows Vista I never test it yet but i believe you also can use the same mehod for win vista.
The Idea is to use your windows XP but, but instead of using direct install we use manual installation by update it from device manager.

Compaq Presario M2000Z CTO (AMD) Windows 7 Driver

 READ FIRST:

1.This is my suggestion base on my study for this model. If you have problems you may leave your comments.

2. There are type of models for M2000 series, one which uses INTEL graphic and the other one uses ATI graphic.This post is for AMD model, for ATI (amd) model refer here: M2000 INTEL

It was reported that there are 4 drivers you need to install which is:

1. ATI Radeon Graphic
2. Conexant AC-Link Audio
3. Card reader
4. Wireless Network Adapter.

1. GRAPHIC:

5. Right click on it select update Driver.

8. Press Next and continue with on screen instruction.

If failed

For M2000 Series (INTEL) there are 2 generation of the models.
-First generation is M2000 - M21000 which use Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics.
-Second generations which is M2200 and above use Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family Driver.
